The Industrial Revolution was during the late 18th century and early 19th century. This revolution was a period where new inventions were been made to improve industrialization in Great Britian. Great Britain was the first coutry to start it's industrial revolution because, Great Britain had an abundant amount of natural resources coal and iron. During the industrial revolution trade increased and Great Britain had more cultural diffusion. The industrial revolution led to the creation of a new economic system, capitalism. Capitalism is when all the business are privately owned by factory owners. Factory owners had to start traveling to get new resources to bring back to Great Britain, this spark interest in Africa.
Africa has several natural resources like oil, coal, gold and diamonds which interest Europeans to imperalism during the 19th and 20th century. Europeans wanted to improve their balance trade and economy by importing raw materials to Europe. The industrial revolution had a major impact on the imperialism of Africa.

ReplyDeleteWhy did the natural resources in Africa sparked interest of imperialism? This is important to know because in history it is proven that countries with greater power tend to control other nations that lack economic and political power for the purpose to gain raw materials that are important for the ongoin growth of the mother country. An example of this would be Spain which took control of most of the countries in South America, they wanted to obtain "God, Glod and Glory".

I agree because the Africans got more modernized but lost many traditions. Sometimes culture is more important than modernization.<3
