European countries went to Sierra Leone, Africa because that is a major part of Africa that has an abundance of diamonds. Europeans wanted their diamonds as natural resources, for industrialization. They wanted to sell their diamonds in America. The Africans didn’t want them to take their diamonds so they had to fight for it, known as the civil war in sierra leone. Some of the causes of the civil war was unemployment, tribalism, poor economic conditions, and corruption. The sierra leone civil war began in march1991, by a group known as RUF(revolutionary united front).Ten of thousands died and 2 million people were displaced because of conflict.Betty←
